Specifically, we've found that some of the smaller Notes applications we use are the most successful and versatile. They do just "one thing" and do it really well. School House Assignments
School House Assignments is a simple application for assigning and tracking assignments.

It's the third in a group of related applications. This Notes client and web browser-based application is well suited for parents, tutors, and homeschoolers. To use the application, you add your students and subjects, you then add the assignments. The students complete them with a simple "Mark Done" action, and you can choose to verify their completion and add notes or grades/scores if desired. It has 3 roles: student, teacher, and admin. It does track multiple students and their subjects. It also includes an attendance and performance report.

Paperless Filing Cabinet (Documents Repository)
Documents Repository is a Notes-based paperless file cabinet application.

MW uses this an application internally. We also have a few clients which use a stripped version as a categorized feedback database. Originally, we developed the application to save us printing invoices, and other e-mailed received documents for filing. However, like most of our Notes apps, it has grown over time. The application now handles other forms, as well.
The application is a Notes client only application, although it can receive e-mails externally from the Internet as well as the Intranet if desired. The application's primary purpose is for the organization / filing of e-mails and digital files (attachments). In addition, the application also has other forms including purchase orders, reimbursements, inventory, and equipment loss reports. The categories for the documents and reports are customizable. In addition, confirmation / reminder / review notification can be enabled for the mail-in filing cabinet repository so that users get an immediate response when they forward a document to the repository.
This free version of the application is fully functional, but its design is hidden/locked. If you would like to have us make customizations or acquire the "full" unlocked application, please contact us. We also have a Lotus Foundations packaged version of this application available.

Mailfile E-mail Removal Tool & Orphan Mailfile Finder Tool
This mail file maintenance database is for the Lotus Notes administrator.

It contains two mail tools which were originally just agents in a utility database of administrative scripts. They were later combined into a single database with their kickoff settings no longer hardcoded -- they now use a user document for configuration. The first tool finds e-mails with a specific subject and kills them. The second tool finds orphan mail files who no longer have a user (person document) and reports them.
