How to Set Up IMAP or POP E-mail on the Android DROID Phone.

The DROID phone comes with two e-mail apps. The first is for the "native" Gmail account. The second is for multiple IMAP or POP3 accounts.

To do this, you need:Example:
1.

The mail server's incoming IMAP/POP addressmyimapsvr.mindwatering.com
3.
Your user login id and passwordmw_myid and pass4Ne2Mo
4.
The outgoing mail server's SMTP addressmysmtpsvr.mindwatering.com
5.
Your nameJane Doe
6.
Any id and password needed for the outgoing addressmw_myid and pass4Ne2Mo
7.
Any other special information on encryption settings or
ports for both the incoming and outgoing servers
None


Steps:
We'll complete the set up using the sample configuration settings above.

1. Tap the starting pointing up arrow to display the app menu.

2. Tap the Email app icon to launch it.

3. Under Set up email, enter your e-mail address and your password. tap Next.

4. Under Add new e-mail account select, IMAP account for IMAP, and POP3 account for POP.

5. Under Incoming server settings, enter:
Username:mw_myid
Password: pass4Ne2Mo
IMAP server:
(or POP3 server for POP3)
myimapsvr.mindwatering.com
Port:
(for POP3 the port number is 110. It will also be different if encryption is added.)

(Leave None, or change to correct security settings as appropriate)
None
If POP account selected...
Delete email from server:Never
When done, tap Next.

6. Under the Outgoing server settings, enter:
SMTP server:mysmtpsvr.mindwatering.com
Port:
(for STMP the standard ports are 25 or 587 (465 old port) if encryption is enabled)

Security Type:
(Leave None, or change to correct security settings as appropriate)
Require sign-in.Check / Enable
(Mindwatering servers all require authentication.)
Username:mw_myid
Password:pass4Ne2Mo

7. Under the Account options, enter:
Email checking frequency:
(This is how often your Android phone should login and check for mail.)
Every 15 minutes
Send email from this account by default.Check / Enable
(Assumes this new account is to be your "main" outgoing e-mail address.)
Notify me when email arrives.Check / Enable
(Assumes you want the notification.)
When done, tap Next.

8. Under Set up email, enter:
Give the account a name (optional)My MW Mail
(This is a "friendly" name for this e-mail account.)
Your name
(displayed on outgoing messages)
Jane Doe
(Assumes this new account is to be your "main" outgoing e-mail address.)

9. Click Done.

10. Test your mail by confirming new mail arrives to the phone and by sending a test message to a friend.

Note:
You can return to the settings while in the Email application using it's Menu option.
